Professional Development

The overriding aim of teacher education, including the in-service professional development of teachers is to enhance teacher effectiveness and thereby improve student outcomes. Professional development reiterates and confirms the importance of continual learning in enhancing the professional knowledge, practice and engagement of all teachers and school leaders in order to improve learning outcomes. It links initial teacher training to a continuum of continuous lifelong learning in updating, improving and up-skilling teacher skills and knowledge.

ECAE is currently establishing a Professional Development Centre to meet the need of schools in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The college will deliver relatively short, intensive and flexible programs of professional development which will empower participating school practitioners, leaders and administrators to access the latest developments in research, policy and practice.
